In one hour you get a worksheet and a clearer plan.
A workshop where you plan for your photos, messages and accounts, and take home a worksheet. The workshop is for churches, community groups, retirement communities, employers and advisers in the North Dallas area.
What the workshop covers
It opens with one question: if your family needed to act tomorrow, could they securely reach the phone, the email, the photos and the other accounts where you keep what you want them to remember?
- Why: we cover what a digital legacy is and how to tell what would be lost for good.
- Secure first: we cover the two kinds of threat. One is a message that needs you to act. The other is a weak setting that can be used with no action at all. We start with your email and your phone's account, because they are the way to access many of your other accounts. Then we cover a password manager, two-step sign-in and the pause, ask, confirm habit.
- Capture and curate: we cover where your photos are stored and how to decide what to keep. A photo you post to a shared album or social media is saved in that account, and if the account can't be accessed, the photo can go with it.
- Prepare the handoff: we cover the settings Apple and Google offer for after you are gone, who your trusted people are, actions your loved ones need.
- Maintain: five questions to ask once a year about the ways back into your accounts, your trusted people, your saved copy, your printed instructions, and your fraud alert and credit freezes.
Nobody is asked for a password, and the worksheet has no space for a password, a PIN or a code.
Bring the workshop to your group
You need an hour, a room and a screen. We bring the deck and the worksheets. Tell us who will be there and what they worry about most.
Start with the readiness assessment.
Bring your worksheet even if it is only half finished. You leave with written priorities, steps to take yourself and a written list of any work you want done. The assessment is useful on its own.
